Artwork Project

As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, S4B embarked on a special artwork project to mark the occasion all for the benefit of the Brunswick community and its visitors.

Doodle Art Installation We were proud to commission artist Dave Draws to install his own unique take on the area in Brunswick Village reception for both residents and visitors to enjoy. His unique style and an eye for detail has been very much a talking point and we were very pleased when he agreed to doodle for us. His inimitable style can be seen and easily identifiable across the North West and across the world. From Marks and Spencer’s to Manchester Arndale to stationery and coasters at a friend’s house, his style is truly unique and easily spotted and we are so happy to have some of his work proudly displayed here in Brunswick for time to come. commissioned artist Dave Draws to create a map of Brunswick old and new using memories from the residents of Brunswick Village. The Bee chainsaw carving was originally installed in 2015, as part of the community regeneration of Brunswick, all courtesy of skilled chainsaw artist Karl McCauley and designed by a pupil in a competition led by the local school Medlock Primary, now Co-op Academy. Now ten years on, the chainsaw carving was in need of a little TLC so chainsaw artist Karl, was asked to return to Gartside Gardens to carry out a little nip and tuck to bring the bee back to its former glory. It formed part of a series of events hosted by S4B over the year to bring together local residents in celebration of ten years of the regeneration of the Brunswick neighbourhood.

Heritage Trail signage has been installed at various points around the brunswick area complete with numbered trail map to guide you round to see the various landmarks with information of what existed there before. Trail maps are available from the S4B housing office or download a copy via this link, for anyone living in or visiting the area who would like to take themselves on a tour of the neighbourhood.

Our Artwork Project launch event, took place at the end of October 2025. The event included the unveiling of a very special addition to the art collection, a Dragon bench designed and carved by chainsaw artist Karl McCauley, followed by a walk to see the beautifully refreshed Bee, Doodle Art installation at Brunswick Village and resident photography display.
