Message from Cllr Bev Craig – Leader of the Council

Apply for up to £400 to celebrate Windrush Day in your community.
Closing date – 8th June 2026.

Windrush Day is an important moment for our city – a chance to celebrate the lasting contribution of the Windrush Generation and reflect on the stories that have shaped Manchester.

To support communities to mark the occasion in their own way, we’re offering grants of up to £400 to help you organise a local event or activity.

This funding is open to groups and organisations who want to bring people together to celebrate, remember and learn more about the Windrush Generation. This could be through sharing stories, hosting cultural activities, or inspiring the next generation.

The funding can be used flexibly to help bring your event to life – whether that’s hiring a space or equipment, providing refreshments, running cultural or educational activities, supporting transport for those who need it, or promoting your event locally.

I would encourage anyone with an idea, big or small, to apply and help us create a city-wide celebration that honours this important legacy.
