The great big green week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature, and everyone’s invited.

Help make the 24 September – 2 October 2022 the greatest, biggest, greenest week the UK has ever seen
by joining an event in your community. Here are a couple of events happening in Brunswick.

On Saturday, 1st October, you’re invited to come along and watch the film 2040 (PG rating) at Brunswick Church. Doors open at 7.00pm – FREE admission.

Originally released in 2019, this is a film about a father concerned about his young daughter’s future. Filmmaker Damon Gameau travels the world in search of new approaches and solutions to climate change. He meets with innovators and changemakers in many fields to draw on their expertise.

It comes with great reviews from watchers and is a film of hope and positive perspectives on
what covers a difficult subject. View the official trailer on YouTube.

And on Sunday, 2nd October, there will be a community event to highlight air quality issues in inner city Manchester.

The A6 will be closed between 9:30am and 1:00pm between Ardwick Green M13 9XE and Brunswick – including Kale Street, Ardwick Green Park and Coral Street to allow a safe environment for the event to take place.

The aim is to look at options to regreen local parks, improve school entrances, litter pick, promote green travel and active lifestyles, and look to what is possible to stop climate change in Ardwick.

This is also an event where you can get your hands dirty as there will be lots of planting opportunities and
a community litter pick. Come and experience new ways of doing things (Cycles, scooters, exercise), and have your say on how we and the council can improve our existing green spaces.
