S4B is proud to support Black History Month. This year’s theme is Windrush Generations – Manchester Voices. Are you from the Windrush Community (1st or 2nd Generation) and have a story to share? The month was originally founded to recognise the contributions that people of African and Caribbean backgrounds have made to this country over many generations. It has now expanded to include the history of not just Afro-Caribbean black people but all black people in general. Unfortunately, due to the COVID- 19 pandemic, public celebration events cannot take place this year, but there’s still plenty to get involved with online: Websites: There’s lots of online events happening throughout October, here are just a few of them that might be of interest: Reading Whether it’s fiction, cultural history or inspiring lives, these are great for sparking an important conversation about racial equality.
