It’s 40 years since Elizabeth Yarwood Court was built on the 17th April 1976, so to mark the occasion a party was organised by S4B.

S4B Scheme Manager, Donna Shaw provided the catering – there was a DJ, complete with sing-a-long, karaoke and of course a birthday cake!

When it was constructed, the property was named after Dame Elizabeth Yarwood (nee Gaskell), born on 25 November 1900 and died on 31 December 1989.

She served for over thirty-five years as a councillor with Manchester City Council, was Lord Mayor of Manchester (1967-68) and in 1969, was appointed DBE (Dame Commander of the British Empire) in recognition of her extensive community work.
