Come along to Gartside Gardens Park, Kincardine Road, Brunswick, M13 9WN on Saturday, 29th October between 2.00pm and 5.00pm to join the Halloween Gala and Lantern Display Finale.
Local Resident, Dymo Leung, founded Lightime CIC in November 2021 leading to this art exhibition and he has been working with Brunswick Tenants and Residents Association to bring you the Halloween Extravaganza.
There will be games, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, music and refreshments on offer for a special spooktacular treat. There’s even a fancy dress competition so why not get into the spirit of things and dig out your Halloween costume! Everyone welcome – just come along.
As dusk descends the lanterns will be lit to create a truly magical sight and a chance to see the handywork in all its glory. Lanterns is just one of the traditions used to celebrate the mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Ceremonies are held to give thanks for the harvest and to encourage the harvest-giving light to return again in the coming year. It is also a reunion time for families, a little like Thanksgiving.
Following a month of community workshops, the celebrations will be brought to a close with a Halloween Gala and Lantern Finale in the park.
Take a look at this video, a little preview of what you can expect to see in the park – I’m sure you’ll agree the lanterns are pretty magnificent.
