On Friday 7 December, the Age United Partnership, which is made up of S4B and other local organisations, Arawak Walton, Positive Steps and the Women’s Footprints groups,  kicked off the festive season with its inaugural Brunswick Festive Ball.

The holly-decked event was aimed at people over 55, helping to bring some Christmas cheer to the community and connect neighbours who might otherwise be alone over the holiday season.

The attendees also enjoyed a spread from The Manchester College and live music from a band called Jazette.

S4B community development officer, Sharon Thomas said: “This was a fantastic event with all partners coming together to deliver a wonderful festive community event which for many is one of the most loneliest time of the year.

“We will be continuing with more events in the future for our older residents, to build on the existing true community spirit already here in Brunswick.”
