The Brunswick neighbourhood in Ardwick scooped ‘Regeneration Scheme of the Year’ at the prestigious Inside Housing Top 60 Developments awards, which aims to celebrate success and innovation in housing development.
S4B, the consortium behind the £107.5m project, is only three years into a 25-year transformation programme for Brunswick, but have already achieved a number of major milestones.
Over 500 homes in the area have been fully refurbished, and more than 100 new homes have already been built for affordable rent and private sale. Roads, parks and playgrounds have also been installed or updated.
As well as being named ‘Regeneration Scheme of the Year’, S4B also picked up the overall ‘Winner of Winners’ award.
The results were announced at an awards ceremony held at the Lancaster Hotel, London, on Friday 14 October.
Dan Baker, PFI contract manager at S4B, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won these awards. It’s great recognition for the incredible work that is being done in Brunswick.
“We are already seeing an amazing transformation of the neighbourhood, with much-needed investment significantly improving the area and making a real difference for residents.
“Add to that the high quality affordable homes that have been built and the improvement to local facilities, and we’re well on our way to creating an even more vibrant community.
“Everyone here in Brunswick is so very passionate about what they do and proud of what is being achieved.”
The regeneration of the Brunswick area is being delivered for Manchester City Council by S4B, a consortium involving contract manager Equitix, housing association Contour Homes, maintenance specialists Mears and construction firm Galliford Try.
