Residents got into the festive spirit by joining a lantern parade and Christmas light switch-on organised by S4B Manchester.
Starting from the S4B Housing Office, children from Medlock School led the parade through the streets of Brunswick down to Glenbarry play area which was officially unveiled as part of the event.
The procession then made their way back to the grounds of the S4B Housing Office where Father Christmas made to time in his very busy schedule to come along to switch on the Christmas lights. He handed out treats to the children, while the school choir sang Christmas songs to give the event an extra special festive feel.
Organiser of the event, S4B Senior Community Warden Lynne Farrington, said: “With Christmas coming up we thought this would be a wonderful start to the festive season in Brunswick, and a great way of bringing the community together.
“It was a lovely sight to see the children leading the lantern parade for the Brunswick community, and the beautiful sound of the school choir singing the Christmas songs made the tree light switch on even more special”.
