On Saturday 13th June, organised by the Tenants and Residents Association (TARA), the first annual Brunswick Food Festival was born.

Residents came along bringing a dish or two to share, and there were flavours from all around the world. Dishes included salad from the Ukraine, herb infused dumplings from Africa, home baked cakes, Spanish tapas, Italian pizza & pastas, and Indian curries with flatbreads.

And not forgetting the home grown onions and salad courtesy of Martin from the Chorlton and Medlock Allotment Society, based at the S4B housing office.

It was a great way for neighbours to engage with each other through food.

Choel Cartwright, Chair of the Tenants and Residents Association said: “We would like to thank the wonderful community and TARA volunteers who came together to make this possible. Brunswick Church and staff were a great help and provided an excellent venue.

“It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and we are looking forward to doing it all over again next year”

“It was a huge success and a really positive event”

There was music and lots of activities such as face painting kindly provided by Friends of Gartside Gardens, henna art, a bouncy castle, cage football, badge making, bingo, a performance from the Medlock Primary School Choir and a car boot sale.
