On Tuesday, 2 August, from 12:00 to 3.00pm, Active Streets and MCC will be hosting a fun packed community street event.
Sylvia Pankhurst Way will be temporarily closed to traffic and parking (between 11:00am and 4:00pm) when residents will see their street transformed into a safe sport and activity space for the whole community to enjoy.
Activities such as pop-up Tennis, Basketball, Giant Jenga, Skipping, Hula Hooping, Connect 4 and Chalk Games will be available throughout the day. If you have a game or activity that you would like to share with the community, please bring it along.
In addition to the street activities there will also be a bike maintenance service provided by S4B and also the launch of the Cycle Library hire scheme. Greater Manchester Police will also be on hand to offer bike security marking so please bring yours with you.
Biffa will also be present to offer advice on recycling and hand out recycling goodies.
To get the party started, you are also invited to participate in a community litter pick from 11.00 am – 12.00 noon.
During the hours 11.00am – 4.00pm, we are asking residents and any visitors to please park your cars on an alternative road, so that the street can be free of vehicles during the event.
