This week marks the anniversary of the Grenfell fire. It is a time for sombre reflection, remembering those who lost their lives and those affected by the tragic incident. It is something we will never forget.

Following the terrible fire, S4B completed a full technical review of the fire safety measures in our four high rise blocks.  The review includes not just materials but also the management, servicing and testing regimes in the buildings.

This summer we will be carrying out additional fire stopping improvement works to communal areas and flats.  A programme of works will be sent to all high rise residents and an open event will be held to explain in more detail  and to answer any questions. While this work is carried out, Fire Wardens will remain in place 24-hours a day.

Works will take place on one High Rise block at a time, starting this summer with Lockton Court, followed by Lamport Court, Silkin Court and Artillery Court. It is hoped all of this work will be completed before the end of the year. Mast climbers will be erected to do the majority of works from the outside of each building.

Large fires of the type seen at Grenfell are extremely rare and our high rise buildings are designed to prevent fire spreading.

If you are unsure about what to do in the event of a fire please contact the S4B Team. T: 0300 555 0128, E: info@s4bmanchester.co.uk or call into the S4B housing office.
