Rent is increasing by 2.7% from Monday 7th April and you will by now have received your letter from Manchester City Council detailing your new payments. The increase includes any service changes if applicable which also be detailed in the letter.
What next?
– Standing orders If you pay by standing order, please make sure you change it to cover the new total outlined in the letter.
– Housing Benefit – If you receive housing benefit this will be adjusted automatically, there is no need to contact us.
– Universal Credit – If you receive help with housing costs under Universal Credit, you need to tell the Department for Work and Pensions. You can do this on your online Universal Credit journal after 1st April 2025 and it is your responsibility to report this change. See this handy guide here to help you; there are copies also available from the S4B reception desk.
Please remember that neither Housing Benefit nor Universal Credit pays for heating, fuel or VAT charges – you will need to pay these yourself.
Don’t forget, if you have a clear rent account, you will receive two RENT FREE WEEKS again this year. The first on week commencing 7th April and again on week commencing 22nd December.
