Afzal Khan was elected as the Labour MP for Manchester Rusholme in 2024, covering Ardwick, Fallowfield, Hulme, Moss Side, Rusholme and Whalley Range. He previously served as the MP for Manchester Gorton from 2017 until 2024.
At the last general election the boundaries of the electoral ward in Manchester changed, meaning that Ardwick and Brunswick now form part of the Manchester Rusholme constituency.
To familiarise himself with his extended electoral ward, Mr Khan asked to visit Brunswick as one of his new areas. Neighbourhood and PFI Contract manager, Ross Hemmings, said: “In July he was invited along by Manchester City Council to come along and see the Brunswick neighbourhood which he was keen to do and we were only too pleased to show him around.
“We took him on a walkabout tour of the area finishing up at Brunswick Village with their rooftop garden and aerial views of the city, to give a full flavour of the transformation created by the PFI Project”.
