Residents in Brunswick came together earlier this month to celebrate the fourth year of the neighbourhood’s 25-year regeneration plan.
S4B, the consortium behind the £106m masterplan for the area, hosted the special birthday bash at Medlock Primary School on Saturday, (13 January).
Over 80 residents attended the event, which included a whole host of fun activities including face painting, five-a-side football, and a reptile and exotic creatures display.
Residents also had the opportunity to view a revised masterplan for the estate and have their say on proposed changes.
Ross Hemmings, S4B regeneration manager, said: “The event was a huge success. It was the perfect opportunity to celebrate our achievements so far, and at the same time talk with residents on plans for the future.
“We are not proposing any major re-design for the area, and are only making changes where they deliver improvements or are absolutely necessary to meet safety or design requirements.
“The first four years are already proving to be an enormous benefit for residents, with much more to come. Thanks to everyone who attended to make the day really special.”
The updated masterplan includes fewer new build homes for sale, changes to driveways and parking, updates to boundary treatments and roads, and the repositioning of some homes and roads.
Cllr Bernard Priest, Manchester City Council’s Deputy Leader, added: “The regeneration scheme in Brunswick is truly transformational and the past four years has already seen fantastic improvements to the community.
“It’s important that the community works with S4B to provide insight from the very people who are best placed to tell us how their neighbourhood works”.
The plans are available to view in the S4B housing office throughout the consultation period which runs through to March. A decision will be made by the Planning Committee on 8 March 2018.
In just four years, S4B has already scooped a number of awards, and was named ‘Regeneration Scheme of the Year’ at the 2016 Inside Housing Top 60 Developments Awards.
