On 29th September children from Medlock primary school were invited by S4B to get involved in bulb planting in the park at Gartside Gardens.
The children came along to the park to learn all about the daffodil bulbs and how to plant them, and as it was Spanish week at the school, the children were even able to learn all about their new skills in Spanish too, with the help of two of the older pupils who had been learning the language for the past couple of years.
The daffodil bulbs and materials, purchased with funding from Manchester City Council, were provided by S4B along with staff members to help the children plant the bulbs around the perimeter of the MUGA sports pitches, and they will be in bloom early next year.
Lynne Farrington, Senior Community Warden at S4B said; “It was lovely to work with the children and we can’t wait to see the results of their hard work in the Spring.
“And it was great to hear the children trying out a bit of Spanish too, it really was an eventful day – fun and educational”.
