A brand new multi-use games area officially opened in Gartside Gardens at the weekend to coincide with the Friends of Gartside Gardens Fun Day.
The fabulous new games area was constructed by Galliford Try on behalf of S4B. Both companies were joined by Cllr Mavis Smitheman, as well as Carole Frankland and Ann Carroll from Friends of Gartside Gardens last week, to officially open the new facility and take a look around (pictured).
The new multi-use games area, which is now fully open to the community includes a tennis court, basketball court, a five aside football pitch and cycle parking facilities. The games area has also been made much easier to get to with new pedestrian footpaths leading from existing paths in Brunswick.
We are extremely pleased to have been able to open the facilities for the summer holidays and in time for the Friends of Gartside Gardens Fun Day and we hope you will all enjoy spending some time there playing sports in the coming weeks, months and years.
Councillor Mavis Smitheman said: “The Multi Use Games Area is a fantastic addition to Gartside Gardens. What S4B has delivered is a vast improvement on the facilities that were here previously. The launch has come at the perfect time as I’m sure that the local children will get a lot of use out of the tennis and basketball courts and football pitch over the school summer holidays. The new footpaths and cycle parking facilities will also make it easier for those using the facilities to get to and from the area.”
